Chumkriel Language School (CLS) gives families of the Chumkriel community access to free education and a wide range of educational resources. It equips children from disadvantaged backgrounds with the knowledge, skills and confidence to attend government school, to complete studies there and, for some, the opportunity to continue studies at University or vocational training college.
The educational services provided by CLS, complemented by its community outreach programs, provide life-changing opportunities for the children of Chumkriel and neighbouring communities, helping them realize better futures for themselves and their families.
The CLS Learning Centre provides over 100 primary age students from disadvantaged backgrounds with classes in basic Khmer subjects, English and health & hygiene. The Agriculture Project teaches children and their families how to grow a variety of vegetables so they can save money while having a more healthy diet. Computer Class teaches CLS and government school students basic computing: internet, email, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This improves their prospects of securing a good job or advancing to tertiary studies. CLS staff also receive tuition to improve their computing skills.
