Our shelter building project helps poor families build basic homes with assistance from their neighbours. CLS buys materials, helps organize a building program, and may draw on the labour of visiting volunteers.
With a satisfactory home, family health improves, children’s attendance at school is more regular, and parents are often better equipped to earn a living.
CLS also builds toilets for families so they no longer have to use rice paddies for toileting. This greatly improves family health and hygiene.
Provide a needy family with a basic home for US$700, a slightly better home for US$1,000, or a toilet for $500.
