Shelter Building Project

This program aims to assist members of the local community who are homeless or are living in homes needing urgent repair, and who are financially unable to help themselves. We work with these families to build their own home, assisted by surrounding villagers.

CLS staff members facilitate the project to ensure the villagers and partners (volunteers) involved can communicate with each other and work together.

When families have a satisfactory home, they are often able to increase family income and well-being, and their children’s attendance at school can become more regular and reliable.

CLS also builds toilets for families. With a toilet, a family no longer has to use rice paddies for toileting but has a clean and safe environment which contributes to improved health and hygiene.
