Scholarships to attend school are awarded each year to 30 children, selected on the basis of need, from impoverished backgrounds. These allow them to attend government school by meeting the cost of uniforms and school supplies. The scholarships also allow them free English lessons at the CLS Evening School.
A scholarship for a child to attend school costs just US$40 for one year.
CLS also provides scholarships to promising students to cover fees for university or vocational training college. The students come back to assist at the Learning Centre during their holidays. They are encouraged to use the knowledge and skills developed in their university studies to give back to the poor communities from which they come.
A scholarship to attend university in Kampot costs US$500 per year. Most courses are of 3 or 4 years’ duration.
