May 2014 Update – Growing Cucumbers
Thanks to the guidance and dedication from long term volunteer, Mr Ernest, the CLS Agricultural project is moving ahead in leaps and bounds, but always not without some hurdles along the way.
Being the wet season in Cambodia, we have had to change the daily schedule for the workers and it is pleasing that all come regularly. They are always very hard working and are willing to do other jobs when we need help from them and get involved with CLS.
In May we used all the compost to grow cucumbers and morning glory. These are growing well, waiting for harvest in June, but some cucumbers were destroyed by insects. We have not sprayed insect killer yet and aim to use organic methods to control this.
