The CLS Learning Centre provides over 100 primary age students from disadvantaged backgrounds with classes in basic Khmer subjects, English and health & hygiene. This grounding encourages and equips them to carry on to higher learning at the Chumkriel government school.
- Students are taught for three years, supplementing their education in Khmer subjects at the government school, as well as teaching them basic English. After that time, they can still visit the Learning Centre to use its resources and to receive guidance and support.
- Progress is monitored through regular tests, and prizes are awarded for effort , behaviour, attendance and achievement.
- Workshops, reading events and assemblies encourage the students and recognize their achievements.
US$160 is the cost of educating one child for a year at the Learning Centre.
